Yellow Cedar Burl, free form bowl. Beautiful rare burl from an Alaskan Yellow Cedar or commonly called Yellow Cypress. Known for their fine smooth grain, extreme resistance to decay and bugs while having a complete lack of odor once cured, Cupressus nootkatensis, was traditionally used for masks, utensils, bowls and the more detailed things in life. Currently sought after for fine furniture and boat building due to its fine straight grain inherent to its slow growth on the coastal slope it is rare to find such a large workable burl like the one used to make this beautiful presentation bowl. Great for salads, Yellow Cedar is naturally acid resistant and will impart no odor or taste on your food!
